I will assume that you have two PC's capable of running Oracle 10g on SuSE.. I bought most of these items off of ebay.... so these prices are ballpark of what you should expect to pay Of course your costs may vary, I have over priced a few things, be patient, you may possibly come in at $150.

Create entries in /etc/hosts for each machine... #/etc/hosts 10.0.0.41 safa-rac.ilmtech.com safa-rac 10.0.0.51 marwa-rac.ilmtech.com marwa-rac then use the internal name wherever you want the interconnect to be used So for example, If you setup a TNS Names entry in tnsnames.ora You would use safa-rac for the hostname thereby forcing the interconnect to be used. The key is that both machines need to have the internal IP addresses within their /etc/hosts files |
